Hoops Time

Basketball season is ready to kick off on Saturday. The Hawks (Hayden's team) open up against the Thunder in the afternoon. Annee's Stars play in the morning against the Sparks. The Hawks should be pretty tough, while the jury is still out on the Stars. We are cautiously optimistic. Annee and Hayden also have their second academic team match on Thursday against the Panthers from Plano.

Anniversary/Football Weekend

Sunday was our 12th wedding anniversary. Heather and Annee celebrated by participating in the Hanging of the Greens at church, while Hayden and I went to the Tennessee Titans versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. The Titans won with a 4th quarter comeback. Due to my expertise in schedule, we actually had our anniversary dinner on Saturday evening at Shogun Bistro. It was our first time to go to Shogun at the new location. The food and show are still as good, but the decor is much nicer in the new place. Earlier on Saturday, Hayden and I got to sit in the Topper Club seats for the WKU-Troy football game. In addition to having great seats, Hayden took advantage of all the food he could eat and pop he could drink. This week is busy with basketball practice. Annee has her first game on Saturday. We should get Hayden's schedule later today or tomorrow. Annee is also participating in a swim meet in Brentwood, TN on Sunday.

Happy Thanksgiving

Just finished Thanksgiving dinner with the Budziak and Kash families. Heather did a great job preparing a feast. The day started with us going down to church to help serve the annual Thanksgiving meal that they prepare. Along with a neighboring church, State Street UMC prepares meals for delivery and then serves a meal at church for those that want to come by. Last year they served over 600 meals and were prepared for up to 700 this year. Our role was primarily to help pack dinners and then we helped bus some tables. On Sunday we joined the rest of the Colts to celebrate the Toy Bowl championship at the Montana Grille. Annee did her second stint as acolyte that morning and was ball girl for two more WBB games. She was particularly excited about Tuesday night because she was able to work with her friend Savannah for the Wright State game. Last night, we all made our way to Diddle Arena for the VCU-WKU MBB game. VCU isn't as good as their Final 4 team from last year, but they were still too much for the Hilltoppers.

On to the Toy Bowl

The Colts have advanced to the Toy Bowl. They are now 12-0 and will have a rematch with the Steelers on Saturday. Basketball practice has also started for Hayden so he is now almost as busy as Annee. Annee (and I) have also started with basketball practice. She also participated in her second swim meet for RACE (Saturday, October 5th). She competed in five events. She finished 23/35 in the 100 Free and knocked 2.75 seconds of her time. She placed 18/34 in the 50 Back, 23/27 in the 100 Breast, and 16/28 in the 50 Fly. The relay team she participated on placed 3rd out of 7 teams in the 200 Free relay. She has a bit of time before the next meet. She might participate in a meet in early December. Annee is also going to serve as a ball girl for some of the WKU home WBB games this year. She made her debut last evening. We will try to get some pictures up soon. Heather has been very busy with school and serving as a shuttle. Finally, I just returned from taking some students to DC. Saw the MLK, Jr. monument for the first time. It is impressive. Below are a couple of pictures from the trip.
