Heather Turns 40!!

The big event of this past weekend was celebrating Heather's 40th birthday.  We had approximately 65 folks (adults and children) over for drinks and desserts on Saturday.  For the most part, folks were pretty well behaved!  Although, the weather wasn't perfect, we did luck out.  It got even colder on Sunday and Monday when we were blessed with hail and snow flurries.  While Saturday was Heather's big day, she didn't get to have it all to herself.  We spent the morning in Edmonson County for the regional academic competition.  The Briarwood quick recall team tied for 5th out of the 8 teams who made it to regionals.  Earlier in the week, Hayden was selected as the Leader of the Month for his class.  Annee was named Leader of the Month in the Fall.  This week we have an art show and Annee's first volleyball tournament with BRAVO.

Triple Threat Falls in Semi-Finals

Sunday did not go as well as Saturday for Triple Threat in their rematch against the Tennessee Heat.  Triple Threat went into halftime with a one point lead but things fell apart in the second half.  Our boys never adjusted to the quickness of the TN Heat.  We are not sure when the next tournament will be, but hopefully they will play at least one in April.

A&H Turn 11

A&H Birthday Week has finally come to a close.  Since they had their parties last weekend, we had a relatively low key celebration on Friday.  A&H opened presents, ate cupcakes and went out for dinner at the Buckhead Cafe.  We then snuck in a nap while watching Life of Pi.  Annee wrapped up her short course swim season last Sunday (March 10th).  Since the state meet started on March 15th, she had to qualify as an 11 year old for the meet.  One day made all the difference between qualifying for almost all events or qualifying for none.  She had a pretty good final meet lowering times in three of the four events she swam.  She missed qualifying in the 50 Fly by 0.08 seconds.  The long course swim season begins after Spring Break.  Not going to Lexington for state swim made it much easier for everyone to get to Hayden's Triple Threat basketball tournament in Franklin, Kentucky.  Triple Threat split their two games in pool play this afternoon.  After losing to Franklin-Simpson 39-32 in their first game, they bounced back to defeat the Tennessee Heat 40-33.  Hayden played pretty well scoring 4 in the first game and 6 in the second.

Birthday Celebrations Continue

Friday night is Hayden's turn to host his birthday sleepover.  He has seven friends over but only six will get to spend the full night.  We are hoping that they might fall asleep a bit earlier than the girls did last night.  Hayden requested hot dogs and hamburgers for his meal and donuts for breakfast.

Notice that the birthday boy is not wearing glasses.  He went to the eye doctor with his mom this morning!!

March Madness

Tuesday was March Madness at Briarwood.  March Madness is the annual basketball game where Briarwood teachers play teachers from another school.  This year Briarwood beat Plano 19-17.  Heather scored 4 points including the first bucket of the game and made a steal with about 8 seconds left.  Hayden also participated in the festivities by doing some face painting before the game started.  Annee missed most of the fun due to BRAVO practice.  She has started having practice two days a week and will have her first tournament at the end of March.

Taking his job very seriously!

Hail to the victors!
