Capitol Tour

The first major attraction we hit was the Capitol building on Thursday morning. We were supposed to be at Congressman Guthrie's office (it used to the Richard Nixon's when he was a congressman) by 10 but between traffic and Annee's stomach troubles we were a bit late. The Congressman's staff accommodated our tardiness and reworked the schedule for us. We took the tunnel over from the Cannon Building to the Capitol's new visitor center. After watching a 12 minute film, we made our way around the Capitol.

Looking up at the Capitol Rotunda.

Heather, Annee, Hayden, and Ronnie.

Annee and Ike.

In front of a painting in the Rotunda.

In front of full size replica of the statue Freedom (the statue that sits on the dome of the Capitol) that in the visitor center.

Annee & Sakakawea

Hayden and his Hawaiian friend.

The view as you walk around the visitor center and begin to make your way to the front of the Capitol.

Just woke up enuff to what you'd been doing that went thru ALL the DC photos etc. Made for some wonderful memories and how things have changed since we were there!! Good things and some not so good I am sure. Liked the war memorials as hadn't seen the last two.
So great that you could take the kids at this impressionable age and also that you KNEW your way around!! That's always a +! Thanks so much for sharing.
